Cairo - Sayyidna el-Husein Mosque
In a square in the bazaar quarter is the Neo Gothic Sayyidna el-Husein Mosque (1792), built in honor of the Prophet's grandson on the site of an earlier mosque. It claims to possess the skull of Husein, who was killed in the Battle of Curbela (Mesopotamia) in 680. The mosque is richly decorated during the Ramadan feast.
