Parque Nacional do Caparaó - Cachoeira Vale Verde / Cachoeira Bonita

The National Park contains a number of beautiful waterfalls - the best known being the Cachoeira da Vale Verde, the Cachoeira da Vale Encantada and the Cachoeira Bonita, which has a drop of 80m/260ft and has carved out a basin 4m/13ft deep - mountain streams, passes and luxuriant vegetation. The Brazilian coastal forest (mata atlãntica) reaches up to 1800m/5900ft, with a rich and varied fauna - ocelots, colobus and other species of monkey, pakas, pampas deer, jaguars and many more. Above 1800m there are no trees, merely shrubs, grasses and small mountain flowers.
