Marataízes

50km/30mi south-east of Cachoeiro do Itapemirim, in the estuary of the Rio Itapemirim, is Marataízes, one of the largest bathing resorts in Espírito Santo. It is linked with Vitória by ES 060, the Rodovia do Sol, which runs along the coast to Espírito Santo's numerous beach resorts.

4km/2.5mi from the town are the old buildings of Cais da Barra. Here too are the islands of Francàs, Ovos and Itaputera.
