Bütgenbach - Dam

(Local Name: Barrage) In 1932 near Bütgenbach the Warche was dammed by a 23m/75ft-high wall and turned into a lake of 120ha/297 acres containing 11million cu.m of water (approx. 14million cu.yd). Since the completion of the leisure center of Worriken in 1979 the reservoir annually attracts numerous proponents of water sports and campers. The power station produces 2million kwh of electricity.
