Burlington - Alamance Battleground State Historic Site
Near Burlington, a log cabin and a granite marker now mark the spot where the battle of Alamance took place in 1771, in what is now Alamance Battleground State Historic Site. Battling farmers called Regulators took on the government's militia and were crushed quite mercilessly. The visitor's center is a good place to start. Inside a DVD can be viewed that will explain the reasons behind the confrontation and what happened during and after the event.
