Nusa Dua

In the tourist center of Nusa Dua on the east coast of the peninsula luxury hotels nestle in beautiful tropical gardens. After the construction of the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel it was decided that no new hotel should be higher than the tallest palms in the neighborhood. Thanks to the strict observance of this rule and to the architects' concern to follow the traditional Balinese style of building this new tourist development with its extensive lawns and parks fits harmoniously and elegantly into the landscape.

On the road between Denpasar and the Bukit Badung peninsula, at the beginning of the tourist area, is a large split gate (candi bentar) - perhaps symbolically marking an invisible line of separation between Balinese and tourists, a passage from one world to another.
