Budafok (formerly Promonter)
The scenically charming district of Budafok (formerly Promonter) in the south of the Hungarian capital on the right bank of the Danube was famous up to the second half of the 19th C for its viticulture.
The headquarters of Állami Pincegazdaságok; Kossuth Lajos utca 84 and the Budafoki Pincegazdaság still make use of part of the considerable network of cellars and tunnels. Many of the cellars were lived in at one time.

Budafok - Baroque Church
A particularly charming Baroque church, completed in 1756, stands in the old village square. Features of the interior include an altar-painting by Altomonte and a pulpit in Rococo style. Also of note are sculptures dating from the time when the church was built. Near the church, Péter-Pál utca climbs up the hill, and along it a number of buildings from previous centuries have been preserved.
In Budafok cemetery, southwest of the church, there are some beautiful Baroque and neo-classical tombstones.
