Brussels - Château Royal (Koninklijk Kasteel)

Although the Château Royal, home of the Belgian Royal Family, is not itself open to the public, the park surrounding it at Laeken is. There are delightful footpaths and a number of things worth seeing such as the monument to Leopold I at the center of the circular flowerbed in front of the palace. The Japanese Tower in the northernmost corner of the park was originally built for the Paris Exhibition of 1900.

Chinese Pavilion
The Chinese Pavilion, facing the Japanese Tower, on the opposite side of the road, was brought to the park from the Paris Exhibition. It now houses a good collection of Chinese and Japanese porcelain.
