Description
(Local Name: Schloss Augustusburg) 15 km/9mi south of Cologne is Brühl, with Schloss Augustusburg, the 18th C palace of the Archbishop of Cologne. Sumptuously decorated and furnished, this is one of the most charming palaces in the transitional style between Late Baroque and Rococo (magnificent staircase hall by Balthasar Neumann; large park; concerts in palace).

The palace is now used for government receptions and other state occasions.
