Brisbane - Fortitude Valley

Fortitude Valley was settled by immigrants in 1849. The area is named after the ship Fortitude on which the immigrants arrived. The area was once Brisbane's commercial and trade center, but that role declined and the area became quite rough. Recently Fortitude Valley has been turned into one of Brisbane's more colorful areas. The Valley features a wide range of bars, restaurants and nightclubs.
