Torres
Torres, the best known bathing and vacation resort in the Gaúcho country, lies in the deep south of Brazil, 205km/127mi north-east of Porto Alegre.
Torres takes its name ("Towers") from the four great rock buttresses which project towards the sea and divide the beach into sections, the Torre do Farol, Torre do Meio, Torre da Guarita and Torre do Sul - ancient basaltic formations with caves carved out by the sea over thousands of years and rock walls between 27m/90ft and 66m/220ft high.
