The altitude and thermal resort of Serra Negra lies 152km/94mi north of São Paulo; it is reached by way of SP 360. It is an ideal base for excursions to other spas in the state of São Paulo.
Serra Negra has a number of radioactive springs. In the Conjunto Aquático Municipal (Municipal Aquatic Park) is the Fonte do Menino Jesus de Praga (Spring of the Infant Christ of Prague), and on Avenida João Gerosa are the Fonte São Luís (in a wooded park) and the Fonte Albino Burunhara.
Near the Prefecture are the Fontes dos Italianos and São Carlos, in Rua Elizeu Godói the Fontes Santa Luzia and Santo Agostino, in Rua Coronel Pedro Penteado the Fonte Santo Antônio and in Avenida Laudo Natel the Fonte São Bento.
Aguas de Lindóia, a little town founded in 1728, lies 20km/12.4mi north-east of Serra Negra (on SP 360) and 18km/11mi from the spa of Monte Sião in Minas Gerais. There are pleasant walks in and around the Bosque Zequinha de Abreu (in the town), Lake Cavalinho Branco (1km/.7mi outside the town) and the park of Recanto dos Nefelibatas (3km/2mi), in which there is a waterfall.
The spa of Amparo is 17km/10.5mi from Serra Negra (on SP 360) and 133km/83mi from São Paulo. The Bocaina, Jacob and Nossa Senhora do Amparo radioactive alkaline springs, which are used in the treatment of diabetes and kidney diseases, are in the Parque Turístico da Bocaina (on the road to Monte Alegre do Sul), which has beautiful gardens and medicinal baths. Other springs are Santa Rita, São Benedito, São Vicente de Paula. Serra and São João; the last two are on SP 360.
The little spa of Lindóia, 7km/4.3mi from Aguas de Lindóia and 17km/10.5mi from Serra Negra (on SP 360), has radioactive alkaline springs: the Fontes São Jorge, São Bernardo and São Francisco (all on the road to Itapira, the "Avenida das Fontes"), Santa Bernadete and São Benedito.
The thermal resort of Socorro lies 34km/21mi east of Serra Negra (SP 360 to Lindúia, then SP 147). In the center of the town are the radioactive springs of São Bento and Santa Maria.
On the road to Lindóia is the Saltinho waterfall, on the road to Munhoz the Monjolinho waterfall.
