Its most notable feature is the church of Nossa Senhora da Conceição (1715-1802). Paintings of the Passion in the sacristy show the influence of the painting style of Diamantina with its rather cramped composition, though here it is tempered by the freer style of the local artists.
6km/4mi from the town center, in the Tabuleiro district, are the rock carvings of Salão de Pedra and Colina da Paz. Near here too are the Caverna, a cave with rock paintings (21km/13mi), and a waterfall, the Cachoeira do Tabuleiro (23km/14mi).
