Balneario Camboriu Attractions

Balneário Camboriú

Balneário Camboriú, the best known and most expensive bathing resort in Santa Catarina state, which annually attracts some 400,000 summer holidaymakers, lies on the Atlantic coast 224km/139mi south of Curitiba, 81km/50mi north of Florianópolis and 10km/6mi south of Itajaí.

Most visitors come by car from the neighboring country of Argentina. The town itself and its recreational and leisure facilities reflect its function as a busy center of the holiday trade and will not necessarily be to everyone's taste.

In the center of the town is the horseshoe-shaped beach of Camboriú. To the north are other extensive beaches facing the open sea. Visitors tend to prefer the series of beaches, separated by hills, on the south coast with their calmer seas - e.g. Laranjeiras, Taquaras, Taquarinhas, Estaleiros, Estaleirinhos (all still unspoiled) and the nudist beach of Pinho, one of the very few of its kind.
