"discovered" in the 1960s by Brigitte Bardot and other representatives of the international jet set and is now one of the most fashionable and most expensive bathing resorts in the country (the "St-Tropez of Brazil"), with elegant shops and a well developed tourist infrastructure. Armação dos Búzios can be reached by way of RJ 106, which runs from Rio de Janeiro via São Pedro da Aldeia to Tamoios, where a road branches off for Búzios.
