Brandon - Paterson (Matheson House)

Paterson/Matheson House in Louise Avenue was built in 1893. It is a very good example of the East Lake Style of building.

This particular architechural style is noted for an abundance of ornamentation. The Paterson/Matheson house was extensively renovated in 1904 and doubled in size. One key feature of the house is the remarkable stained glass window called Listening. The stained glass window was created by Winnipeg artist John Allward. The Paterson/Matheson House is a Manitoba Provincial Heritage Site. The house is privately owned and not open to the public.
