Swiss Federal Railroads

(Local Name: Schweizerische Bundesbahn) The network of the Swiss Federal Railroads (Schweizerische Bundesbahn), which has been fully electrified since 1960, comprises about 2,900km/1,800miles. There are also many private railroads which complement the lines of the SBB so that the total network is some 5,000km/3,100miles. There are no ticket barriers; tickets are inspected in the trains. No supplements are charged for express trains except for TEE trains. Children travel free up to six years of age, between six and 16 they pay half fare.
