Neptune Fountain
(Local Name: Neptunbrunnen) A parks and gardens area was laid out in 1986 between the Television Tower and the banks of the River Spree near the Palace of the Republic, and between the Red Town Hall and the Marienkirche. In the center stands the Neptunbrunnen, by Reinhold Begas (1891). Originally this fountain stood between the Town Palace and the Court Stables. The figures depict Neptune and his Court. The Berliners say that the ladies of Neptune's train are the only women in Berlin who can hold their tongues.
