Bergen - Monuments and Theater
To the north of Bergen's Museum of Applied Art extends the small Municipal Park, near the north end of which is a statue (by J. Vik, 1917) of the Bergen-born composer Edvard Grieg (1843-1907). West of the park is the long, narrow Ole Bulls Plass, with a monument (by Stephan Sinding, 1901) to another native of Bergen, the "king of fiddlers", Ole Bull (1810-80). At the west end of the square is the handsome National Theater (Nasjonale Scene; 1906-09); in the gardens is a bronze statue (by G. Vigeland, 1917) of the dramatist Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (1832-1910).
