Kehlsteinstrasse Description
The 6.5km/4mi long Kehlsteinstrasse, near Berchtesgaden, is a private road built by Hitler to give access to his "tea-house" on the Kehlstein. It has five tunnels and gradients of up to 28%, and can be used only by special buses. From the parking place at the end of the road a tunnel leads to a lift up to the Kehlsteinhaus (1,834m/6,017ft). There can be found a restaurant and magnificent panoramic views.
