Bennington Battle Monument Description
The Bennington Battle Monument commemorates the Revolutionary War Battle of Bennington when American Brigadier General John Stark beat British General John Burgoyne's invading army in 1777. The monument is306 feet high and offers views of three states from the upper lookout. The structure was completed in 1891, at which time it was the highest battle monument in the world.
