Outstanding is the Church of Saints-Hermès-et-Alexandre which stands on the site of a Merovingian and Carolingian church. In its present form it goes back to the year 1091 and with its three aisles of equal height it is the only Romanaesque hall church between and Loire and the Rhine. The roof of the central aisle was provided in the 17th C. with 110 coffers with biblical scenes and personalities. The wooden figure of the Virgin of Theux on the left of the choir was created in the 15th C.
To the right of the road to Theux just before reaching the town can be seen the ruins of the Château de Franchimont above the valley of the Hoëgne. It belonged to the prince-bishops of Liège and has witnessed numerous wars and sieges, including a massacre in 1468 in which 600 inhabitants of Franchimont, who had taken refuge here, were slain by the soldiers of Charles the Bold. During the course of the French Revolution the castle was destroyed. Visitors can see the remains and a small museum.
