Lissewege Attractions

Lissewege, 6km/3.75miles south of Zeebrugge, is an exceptionally romantic village of West Flanders with its low squat whitewashed brick houses.
Lissewege is also home to Church of Our Lady, built in the 13th century; Ter Doest, a former Cistercian abbey from the 12th century and a small canal that once served as a trade route between Lissewege and Bruges.
Barn
Just to the south of the village, an extraordinary example of medieval secular architecture has been preserved: the great 13th C. barn of the Cistercian abbey of Ter Doest, of which the main gateway and the dovecote (17th C.) also remain.
