Beaulieu-sur-Mer - Bay of Ants
(Local Name: Baie des Fourmis) The Baie des Fourmis (Bay of Ants), fringed by a palm-lined promenade, is picturesque. On a spit of land, which closes off the bay towards the northeast, stands the Villa Kerylos, an imitation of an ancient Greek mansion. This building, which since 1928 has been owned by the Institut de France, has a remarkably fine interior with marble and bronze work, mosaics and furniture of the finest materials. However, only a very small number of these objects are in fact antique.
From the Baie des Fourmis the Avenue des Hellènes, the Boulevard Maréchal Leclerc and the fine Boulevard Alsace-Lorraine lead northeast to the well-equipped yacht harbor which is one of the best of its kind on the French Mediterranean coast.
