(Local Name: Stadttheater) The Basle Municipal Theater (Stadttheater, 1975) with its "state-of-the-art" technology dominates Theaterstrasse. The irregular-shaped building with its curved roof enjoys a high reputation among German-speaking theaters. There is an unusual "Carnival Fountain" (Fasnachtsbrunnen) 1977 by Jean Tinguely.
