Barnstaple - Marwood Hill Gardens

 
Marwood Hill Gardens are located near Barnstaple in North Devon. the garden began in the 1950's as a neglected walled garden but as more land was acquired the landscape was altered to feature two lakes - one with an island in the middle. Over the years many new areas have been planted and new features added. The gardens now bloom from March through to September.

At present, three national plant collections are located within the gardens. The Camillias collection is one of the biggest in the country and the Astilbe collection is one of the biggest in the world. The lakes are home to many ducks and large fish that provide endless amusement to visitors.

Tips: Open year round from dawn to dusk. The Plant Centre is open daily from 11 - 5 pm.
