Barcelona - Picasso Museum Museu Picasso

On Carrer Montcada, one of the most picturesque of the narrow streets in the old town, stands the Palau Berenguer de Aguilar, an imposing Late Gothic palace which now houses the Picasso Museum. The collections, arranged in chronological order, include paintings and drawings as well as prints (lithographs, etchings) from all of Pablo Picasso's artistic periods.

The exhibition rooms begin on the first floor; labelling is in two languages (Catalan and Spanish).

On the ground floor are a cafeteria and a large horizontal window which provides a view of a Roman provisions store, with some large two-handled pots.

Picasso Museum - Cubist

Rooms 15-17 house the continuation of his graphic works; Rooms 18 onwards show paintings arranged in chronological order, with the beginnings of his Cubist period in Room 19.

Picasso Museum - Graphic

Rooms 1-7 contain his early work, and Rooms 8-10 the graphic collection. The artist's early work is strongly influenced by Naturalism and Impressionism. In Room 5 can be found the large-sized painting of "Ciéncia y Caridad", together with his preliminary sketches and studies.

Picasso Museum - Meninas

Room 20 is devoted to the "Meninas", a monochrome paraphrase of the work of the same name by Diego Velázquez together with preliminary sketches. Room 21 displays the polychrome version. In Room 22 you can see variations on the theme "Los Pichones" ("The Doves").
