Barbados Wildlife Reserve
Consider this attraction a small zoo where the visitors walk among the inhabitants. Wild green monkeys, imported from Africa by early settlers, are often seen in the early morning or late afternoon, though they spend midday feeding outside the reserve.
One interesting area is the iguana sanctuary and orchid display. Iguanas are native to a number of other Caribbean islands, though not Barbados. Deer, agoutis, tortoises, and a nice collection of tropical birds add interest to the stroll around this remaining mahogany forest. Mahogany was itself introduced to Barbados in the middle of the 18th century.
