Ban Chiang - National Museum

A number of restored and reconstructed pots are on display in the small museum in Ban Chiang. The story of the excavations is also told, with the aid of dioramas and commentary in English as well as Thai. An interesting book on the history of Ban Chiang is available at the cash desk.

About a kilometer from the museum a burial area has been excavated and left in its exposed state, as too has a male human skeleton.

Next to it is a reconstruction of a "dig", with pottery from this and other sites around Ban Chiang. More pottery was taken to Bangkok where it can be seen in the Suan Pakkard Palace.

Astonishingly authentic-looking imitations are sold by villagers in Ban Chiang's main street.
