Hörnum Peninsula

The road through the Hörnum Peninsula reaches the hamlet of Puan Klent and the little town of Hörnum (pop. 1,400) at the southernmost tip of the island, with a powerful lighthouse, a harbor (boats to Amrum, Föhr and Heligoland: see North Sea Coast, North Frisian Islands) and good beaches.

From Westerland a road runs south through the beautiful dune landscape of the Hörnum peninsula to Rantum (pop. 600), with an 8km/5mi long sandy beach on the west coast. Northeast of the village is the large Rantumbecken bird sanctuary.
