Caves of San Borjita

Continuing the journey from Santa Rosalía, after about 40km/25mi you come to a turning on the right to the Hacienda Baltasar leading by way of a track to the great caves of San Borjita (some 22km/14mi), where you can see colorful wall-paintings of hunting and warlike scenes. This trip can be made only in a vehicle suitable for cross-country work, and the last 2 or 3km/1-1.5mi must be covered on foot. In the vicinity there are a number of other caves (La Trinidad, San José de los Arce, El Coyote, La Esperanza) with similar but less impressive paintings.
Tips: A trip to the caves should only be attempted in a suitable 4 wheel drive vehicle.
