Badajoz - San Juan

In the center of the old town is the Plaza de España, with the Palacio Municipal (Town Hall). Opposite it is the Cathedral of San Juan, a fortress-like structure built between 1232 and 1284 with a sturdy square tower and a later Renaissance facade and doorway (1619). The interior is aisled, with a large Renaissance choir (by Jerónimo de Valencia) and fine choir-stalls.
