The Goethe Theater (built by H. Gentz in 1802; restored 1966-68) in Bad Lauchstädt is the only neo-classical theater in Central Europe which has preserved wooden stage machinery of the Late Baroque period in working order. During the summer there are performances of operas, operettas and plays.
