Pico Serrado

The road continues uphill from Pico dos Barcelos, with many bends, through a forest of eucalyptus trees and passing a number of superb viewpoints, to Eira do Serrado (1,026m/3,366ft), the "Serrado saddle" on the northeast edge of the Pico Serrado. From the saddle itself, and particularly from the nearby summit of the Pico Serrado (literally, sawn off peak, 1,115m/3,658ft), there is perhaps the very best view of Madeira's central mountain range, extending from the Pico Ruivo (1,861m/6,106ft) and Pico Arieiro (1,810m/5,939ft) in the east to the Pico Grande (1,607m/5,273ft) and Pico do Jorge (1,692m/5,515ft) in the west.
