Near Stockerau (175m/574ft; pop. 14,000), on the northern edge of the Tulln basin, a road branches north to Hollabrunn. The poet Nikolaus Lenau (1802-50) often stayed with his grandfather in Stockerau, and he is remembered by two monuments, a room in the local museum and also the Lenau archives.
