Stockerau Attractions

Near Stockerau (175m/574ft; pop. 14,000), on the northern edge of the Tulln basin, a road branches north to Hollabrunn. The poet Nikolaus Lenau (1802-50) often stayed with his grandfather in Stockerau, and he is remembered by two monuments, a room in the local museum and also the Lenau archives. There is also a grove to his memory in the nearby woodland meadows, which were one of his main inspirations. Performances and readings of his works are given in summer in the square in front of the parish church.
The town of Stockerau has a variety of leisure facilities such as a sports centre with three gyms, judo and table tennis gym, skittle alley, indoor and outdoor tennis, and a football stadium.

There is a car museum in Stockerau.
