Schruns and Tschagguns Attractions

In a wider part of the valley, on the right bank of the Ill at the point where it is joined by the Litzbach, lies the chief town in the Montafon, Schruns (690m/2,264ft; pop. 3,500) which, together with Tschagguns (686m/2,251ft; pop. 2,400) on the left bank, forms the main tourist center in the valley. Schruns has an interesting local museum housed in a 17th C. farmhouse, Tschagguns a pilgrimage church (1812-15; 14th C. choir). A cableway from Schruns serves the Kapellalpe (1,855m/6,086ft; restaurant; magnificent views), east of the town, continuing up to the Sennigrat (2,300m/7,550ft). There is a chairlift going westward from Tschagguns to Grabs (1,365m/4,479ft), and a funicular from Latschau to the Golm (upper station 1,890m/6,200ft).
