In a wider part of the valley, on the right bank of the Ill at the point where it is joined by the Litzbach, lies the chief town in the Montafon, Schruns (690m/2,264ft; pop. 3,500) which, together with Tschagguns (686m/2,251ft; pop. 2,400) on the left bank, forms the main tourist center in the valley.
