8km/5mi northeast of Bruck is the little town of Rohrau, where Joseph Haydn was born in 1732, son of the local blacksmith; the thatched house in which he first saw the light of day is now a museum.

Joseph Hadyn is known for his his piano sonatas, symphonies and string quartets.
