3km/2mi to the west of Lermoos - in a valley basin at the foot of the Zugspitz massif - lies Lermoos (995m/3,265ft; pop. 800), which attracts many visitors in both summer and winter. A visit should be paid to the Baroque parish church (c. 1750) with its Roccoco interior (crypt-like underfloor church below the choir) and the 16th C. Plague
Cemetery.
Ehrwald, Lermoos and Biberwier together form what is known as the "Snow Arena of the Tirol Zugspitze Region". From Lermoos a chairlift runs southwestward via the Brettalm (1,350m/4,429ft) to the Grubigstein (upper station 2,035m/6,677ft), with a superb view of the Zugspitze massif. There are two other chairlifts and, around Biberwier, many ski tows.
