8km/5mi southwest of Altenmarkt in the Enns valley, on the motorway, lies Flachau (927m/3,041ft; pop. 1,600), from which there is a chairlift to the Griesskareck (1,991m/6,532ft), an increasingly popular winter sports area. A chairlift and cabin cableway ascend southward to the Rosskopf towering above the Zauchsee.
