Brand Attractions
Brand (1,037m/3,402ft; pop. 650) is a mountain village at the mouth of the Zalimtal. The choir of the church contains old frescos; the nave is a tent-like timber structure built in 1964. Brand is the main tourist attraction of the Rätikon area, which embraces the northern limestone Alps around Vorarlberg, the Grisons and Liechtenstein. Brand is known for its health resort with open-air swimming pool and winter sports complex.
Brand Valley - Skiing
If you are a skier who likes to ski with your children or a skier who wants uncrowded slopes, the Brand Valley in Vorarlberg, near the borders with Switzerland and Liechtenstein, would be an ideal choice. With 12 lifts having an hourly capacity of 15,000 skiers (three times the number of guest beds in the area), the 50 km of groomed slopes are rarely crowded. Two ski schools give lessons to skiers of all levels of ability and children up to six ski for free. A special treat in the valley is horse riding in the snow under the guidance of the Beck family, one of the most noted breeders in Europe.
