Alpbach Valley Attractions
To the south of Brixlegg stretches the Alpbach valley. A road leads 10km/6mi up the valley to the chief town of Alpbach (973m/3,192ft), on an upland terrace commanding fine views. There are several cableways; to the south towers the Grosser Galtenburg (2,425m/7,956ft).
Skiing
One of the most beautiful valleys in Austria, the Alpbachtal is made up of four different ski areas - Rattenberg, Brixlegg, Reith and Alpbach itself. All four are linked by a free ski shuttle bus with Alpbach's Wiedersbergerhorn having the most extensive slopes and lifts with a six-person gondola, four chairlifts and 10 surface lifts. Located between Innsbruck and the German border at Kufstein, the four Tirolean villages offer a total of 21 lifts and 40 km of trails, half of which have snowmaking.
