Murray Attractions
The Murray River is the longest river in Australia. It borders between New South Wales and Victoria. The Murray region of Victoria includes the Murray Outback, Goulburn Murray Waters, and Legends and High Country regions.
Rutherglen, Australia
Rutherglen (pop. 2250) is in the center of the most important area in Victoria. In 1830 the first settlers came here from Tasmania, looking for grazing land for their sheep and cattle. The finding of gold in the 1850s brought a great influx of prospectors, bringing the population of the town to around 25,000.

Lake Eildon
(Murray)
Lake Eildon is Victoria's largest lake, with an area of 138sq.km and a shoreline of 515km. It is a man-made lake, created to provide water for irrigation and the generation of power, and its creation led to the drowning of many farms in the Goulburn and Delatite valleys. The area round the lake, amid the gently rolling foothills of the Victorian Alps, is now a very popular holiday region. There are facilities for water sports in the holiday centers of Eildon and Bonnie Doon, where house boats can also be hired.
Nagambie, Australia
Nagambie (pop. 1100), lies on the shores of Lake Nagambie, a man-made lake created in 1890 by the damming of the Goulburn. Although the dam was constructed entirely by hand, it was regarded in its day as a masterpiece of technology.
Nagambie has preserved a number of old houses. There are good facilities for water sports on the lake.
