The main features of this national park are luxuriant rain forest, the gorge on the Mitchell River and the cave known as the Den of Nargun, an Aboriginal cult site. When Woolshed Creek is flowing in summer it covers the entrance to this stalactitic cave with a veil of water 20m wide. The sheer walls of the gorge shelter the warm temperate rain forest with its abundance of ferns and orchids.
