Description
(Local Name: Attiko Metro) The Metro operates three lines with 42 stations, servicing a large area of the city and surround area. The end of the Green Line serves Piraeus within a short distance of the ferry boat terminals where one can take ships to the various Greek Islands.

The Metro stations are attractions in themselves, offering a glimpse of parts of the city and cultural heritage previously unseen, but uncovered with the construction of the Metro. Syntagma and Evangelismos stations display archeological finds in non-fare areas. Added to this are works of art by modern Greek Creators, turning the stations into Mini-Museums. The newer Blue and Red Lines encompass the most attractive designs in rolling stock, stations, and signage.
