Athens - Church of the Holy Power

(Local Name: Ayía Dynamis Church) The tiny aisleless Church of the Holy Power lies hidden below the modern block occupied by the Ministry of Education. It dates from the Turkish period and has a bell-cote built onto one side.

During the construction of the ministry building remains of the Themistoclean Walls were found. It is thought that one of the 15 gates in the walls, the Diochares Gate, stood near here (junction of Pentélis and Apóllonos Streets).
