Bothros Description
On higher ground at the west end of the stoa at the Asklepeion is a bothros, a round pit for offerings, originally covered by a canopy borne on four columns. The bothros was an early form of the type of circular structure which reached its finest development in the Tholoi at Delphi and Epidauros.
