Abbie Gardner State Historic Site Description
The Abbie Gardner State Historic Site is known as one of the sites of the 1857 "Spirit Lake Massacre". Abbie was taken captive during this uprising with the Dakota Indians and eventually released. The cabin was built in 1856 by Rowlan Gardner, Abbie's father. The displays and furnishings are typical of pioneer life.
