Arnhem - Municipal Museum
To the west of the Central Station, at Utrechtseweg 87, is the Arnhem Municipal Museum (Gemeentemuseum), set in gardens on the Reeberg (fine views of the Rhine countryside). It occupies an old mansion which was converted to house the museum in 1918. Its collections include archaeological material giving evidence of early settlement in Gelderland, valuable medieval coins, glass (including some examples of Roman glass), silver (seven "guild cups", used at guild festivities in the 17th century), paintings of the 17th-19th centuries (including views of the town) and works by artists belonging to the school of "Magical Realism" (Pyke Koch, Dick Ket), Chinese and Japanese porcelain of the 17th and 18th centuries and Delft ware.
