Arlington - Tomb of the Unknown Dead of the Civil War

The Tomb of the Unknown Dead of the Civil War at the Arlington National Cemetery contains the remains of over 2,100 soldiers from the US Civil War. The tomb is mounted on rough hewn stone blocks and is set in pleasant surroundings. A carving on the tomb describes its purpose and the date it was dedicated, September 1866.
