North Little Rock, on the north side of the Arkansas River, was part of Little Rock prior to 1917 when it became a separate city. One of the cities better known sights is The Old Mill where the opening scene of "Gone with the Wind" was filmed.
Burns Park covers 1,575 acres and includes fitness trails, a 27 hole golf course, miniature golf, a children's playground, indoor tennis and racquetball courts. Burns Park features rugby fields, several basketball courts, batting cages, a five-diamond softball area, six indoor and six outdoor tennis courts as well as indoor handball, racquetball and wallyball courts.
The Verizon Arena is a state-of-the-art multi-purpose facility. It plays host to UALR Basketball, Arkansas Twisters Arena Football 2 Team, Figure Skating exhibitions, rodeos, motorsport events and concerts.
